Ricki Casper went undefeated to capture the second stop on the 2023 Gulf Coast Women’s Regional Billiards Tour, held at Big Tyme Billiards in Spring, Texas. In the final match, Casper ousted formidable opponent, Natalie Rocha, to secure her first win of the Tour season. Gail Roles reached her first, hot seat match, scoring an impressive third place, while Naomi Garcia of San Antonio, settled into fourth.
On February 4th-5th, sponsors Poison by Predator Cues, Predator Cues, APA of North Harris County, Alamo Billiards, Outsville Billiards, and Team Straight Pool Eye, produced another successful event for the women of the Gulf Coast Tour. The two-day event featured a $500 added purse, drew 20 players, and paid out $900 in prize money. Big Tyme Billiards provided twenty-four, 7’ bar tables for match play, all covered in Predator Arcadia Reserve, tournament blue cloth, in a smoke-free environment. Predator provided Arcos II Pool Balls and Outsville Billiards supplied Accu-Rack template racks, for each table.
On the road to the winner’s side, final four, Casper defeated Diane Clark, 7-5, Ruth Paine, 7-3, and Jackie Forster, 7-3, while Tina Baublis bested Leslie Pyle, 7-4, Tuyen Nguyen, 7-2, and Nikki Tutt, 7-6. Gail Roles ousted Verda Jones, 7-6, and Jessica Alvarez, 7-4, while Naomi Garcia denied Sara Bork, 7-1, Danni Ladd, 7-3, and Natalie Rocha, 7-3. In the next round, it was Roles over Garcia, and Casper toppling Baublis, pitting a first-time, Roles and Casper, hot seat match up. The winners’ side final witnessed Casper override Roles, 7-2, marking her first hot seat win of the year. On the west side, down to the final eight, Rocha eliminated Alvarez, 5-1, and Baublis, 5-0, while Vania Davila took out Forster, 5-2, falling in turn to Garcia, 5-2. Rocha went on to shut out Garcia and meet Casper in the final match. Casper and Rocha dueled it out, but Casper pulled ahead to win the set, 7-4. Congratulations to Ricki Casper on her first win of the 2023 Gulf Coast Tour season.
Congratulations to Verda Jones who went undefeated to win her first, second chance 9-ball tournament. The Tour would also like to congratulate Vania Davila on her highest finish to date, and recognize players Leslie Pyle, Johanna Terry, Diane Clark, and Nicki Tutt, who came out to compete in their first event!
