Pierce Blazes New Trail on Gulf Coast Tour

Paine, Toerner, Petrosino, Fuller, Ng, Pierce, Weatherly, Garland

Kim “Texas Heat” Pierce went undefeated to capture the sixth stop on the Gulf Coast Women’s Regional Tour, held at Big Tyme Billiards in Spring, Texas. Pierce overcame Teresa “Princess of Pool” Garland in the finals, 7-5, marking her first win of the 2022 Tour season.

On July 9th-10th, sponsors Poison by Predator Cues, Predator Cues, APA of North Harris County, Alamo Billiards, Outsville Billiards, and Team Straight Pool Eye, produced a successful event for the women of the Gulf Coast Tour. The two-day event featured a $1,000 added purse, drew 19 players, and paid out $1,380 in prize money. Big Tyme Billiards provided twenty-four, 7’ bar tables for match play, all covered in Predator Arcadia Reserve, tournament blue cloth, in a smoke-free environment. Predator provided Arcos II Pool Balls and Outsville Billiards supplied Accu-Rack template racks, for each table.

Making their way to the winners’ side, final four, Teresa Garland defeated first-time player, Izela Escobedo, 7-1, and Terri Resendez, 7-2, while Ming Ng ousted Ximena Duarte, 7-2, and Tanyia Chuites, 7-3. Robyn Petrosino bested D’Andrea Leassear and Melissa Fuller, by the same score, 7-4, while Kim Pierce blazed through Dani Ladd, 7-3, Joelle Toerner, 7-1, and Ruth Paine, 7-4. In the next round, Garland sent Ng west, 7-4, while Pierce overwhelmed Petrosino, 7-3. In the hot seat match, a determined Pierce stopped Garland, 7-4.  On the west side, and down to the final eight players in the event, Toerner eased by newcomer Nikki Weatherly, 5-4, but fell to Petrosino, 5-3. Paine eliminated Fuller, 5-4, but was sent home by Ng, 5-3. Petrosino went on to defeat Ng, 5-4, but was blocked by Garland, one match shy of the finals, 5-2. Garland went on to meet Pierce in the finals, both vying for their first win of the 2022 season. In the first set of the true, double elimination final, Pierce denied Garland, 7-5, earning her first Tour victory of the year.

Duarte, Johnson

The Tour would like to congratulate Ximena Duarte who captured the second chance 9-ball event, and Bobbie Jo Johnson who finished runner-up. Reaching new heights, Nikki Weatherly and Joelle Toerner earned top eight finishes, and this event marked Izela Escobedo’s first-ever, Gulf Coast Tour competition! The next event will be held September 10th-11th at R House Bar and Grill in Houston, Texas.
