Ng Surges on Gulf Coast Tour

Ming “The Empress” Ng went undefeated in a field of 27 women, to capture the third stop on the 2022 Gulf Coast Women’s Tour. Ng defeated Brandi Booth, 7-3, in the first set of the true, double elimination match, earning her second title of the season.

On March 19th-20th, R House Bar and Grill in Houston, Texas, along with sponsors Poison by Predator Cues, Predator Cues, APA of North Harris County, Alamo Billiards, Outsville Billiards, and Team Straight Pool Eye, produced another successful event for the women of the Gulf Coast Tour. The two-day, $500 added event drew 27 women players and paid out $1,040 in prize money. R House provided 14, 7’ Diamond bar tables for match play, in a smoke-free environment. Predator provided brand new, Predator Arcos II Pool Balls and Outsville Billiards supplied Accu-Rack template racks, for each table. The Tour would like to thank R House owner, Robert Pham, and staff, for their hospitality, and for hosting another first-rate event.

Booth, Pierce, Yim, Ng, Nguyen, Bordelon

The winners’ side final eight witnessed Teresa Bordelon defeat Karol Hughes, 7-4, while Kim “Texas Heat” Pierce overwhelmed Cheyenne Valdez, 7-1. It was Kimmy Nguyen over Brandi Booth, 7-3, and Ming Ng dealt Brandi Fendley a blow, 7-1. In the next round, Pierce sent Bordelon to the west side, 7-5, and Ng shutout Nguyen, 7-0. In the hot seat match, Ng overpowered Pierce, 7-4, to capture the east side of the board.

On the west side, down to the final eight players in the event, Michell Yim won an impressive five matches, eliminating Valdez, 5-2, and Nguyen, 5-3, to reach the final four. Brenda Gunter won four consecutive matches to reach the final eight, but was ousted by Booth in the next round, 5-2.

Booth sent Bordelon packing, 5-2, along with Yim and Pierce, by the same score, 5-3, to reach the finals. Ng and Booth teed off, Booth vying for her first Tour win, and Ng aiming for win number two. The veteran player swiftly took charge, maintaining her momentum until the set ended, 7-3. Congratulations to Ming Ng on her second win of the Tour season.
