Ng Snags Win on Gulf Coast Tour

Ballenger, Lee, Ng, Peters, Pierce, Watson

Ming Ng dominated a field of thirty-eight players, to capture the fourth stop on the 2019 Gulf Coast Women’s Regional Billiards Tour. Ng overcame Courtney Peters in the first set of the true, double elimination final, 7-4, earning her second title this year.

On April 27th-28th, 2019, sponsors Cyclop Pool Balls, Poison by Predator Cues, APA of North Harris County, Vapor Fiend, Outsville Billiards, and Southern Streaming, facilitated another successful event for the Gulf Coast Women’s Regional Billiards Tour, paying out $1,760 in prize money, for the two-day, $1,000 added women’s 9-ball event. This event marked the Tour’s second event at the famous Slick Willies Family Pool Hall, located at 5913 Westheimer, in Houston’s upscale, Galleria area. The Gulf Coast Tour would like to thank Slick Willies’ Director of Operations, David Kimmey, for making this happen, along with his entire staff, for hosting a first-rate event. The next event of the 2019 season is June 1st-2nd, at the same great location!

Ng, Peters

Ming Ng made her way to the winners’ side final four with wins over Loretta “The Gem” Lindgren, 7-2, Belinda Lee, 7-2, and Sophia Lopez, 7-3, while Mississippi’s Janeen Lee defeated Sandra Melo, newcomer Regina Gomez, 7-2, and Natalie Mans, 7-0. Also from Mississippi, Teresa Ballenger came on strong, ousting Sara Bork, 7-4, Michelle Abernathy, new member, Amber Watts, 7-5, and young gun, Carli Lastovica, 7-1. Courtney Peters made her way past Marissa LaCoste, 7-5, Kawania Watson, 7-4, and Kim “Texas Heat” Pierce, 7-6. On the west side, and in the final twelve, Robyn Petrosino eliminated Lastovica, 5-1, while Gomez fell to Pierce, 5-0. Watson eliminated Mans, and Natalie Rocha refused Lopez, by the same score, 5-3. Back on the east side, Ng defeated Lee, and Peters bested Ballenger, by the same score, 7-3. In the hot seat match, Ng took charge, overwhelming Peters, 7-1. Back on the one-loss side, Lee powered through Pierce, 5-1, while Ballenger took out Watson, 5-2. Lee ended Ballenger, 5-2, but fell to Peters, 5-3. With that victory, Peters earned a shot at redemption, and the title. Ng and Peters faced off in the first set of the true, double elimination final. Both players shot out of the gate, and the race was underway. When Peters failed to keep pace, Ng was the first to cross the finish line, 7-4, earning her second, 2019 Gulf Coast Tour title.
