Teresa Garland, aka the “Princess of Pool”, went undefeated to win her first Gulf Coast Women’s Regional Billiards Tour 9-ball event. Garland faced off with Dallas’ Cindy Cole, defeating her in the first set of the true double elimination final, 7-4.
On August 26th, 2017, wind and rain pummeled the Houston area, remnants then of the now infamous, Hurricane Harvey. Still, ladies drove in from Houston, Dallas, and League City, while the newest player on tour, Holly Feher, flew in, all the way from Wellsberg, West Virginia. The tour would like to thank all the players who attended, along with Bogies West, and tour sponsors, Cyclop Pool Balls Facebook.com/CyclopPoolBalls, Ozone Billiards OzoneBilliards.com, APA of North Harris County Facebook.com/APANorthHarrisCounty, Outsville Billiards, and Jimmy Jenkins Realty, for their continued support.
Tournament action kicked off around noun, witnessing Teresa Garland work her way through the winners’ side with victories over Tanyia Chuites, 7-5, and Cindy Cole, 7-1, while Loretta Lindgren defeated Joyce Davis and Holly Feher, by the same score, 7-5. On the west side, after losing her first match to Cole, 7-5, Liz Mitchel eliminated Chuites, 7-1, but was sent home by Feher, 7-4. Following a first round loss to Lindgren, Davis was eliminated by Cole, 7-5. Back on the east side, there was a battle taking place for the hot seat. Lindgren and Garland fought for every shot, but it would be Garland who pulled ahead to end the feud, 7-4. On the one loss side, Cole took out Feher, 7-5, and slid by Lindgren, 7-6. After suffering a second round loss at the hands of Garland, 7-5, she had earned herself a shot at redemption. The finals kicked off with two, very determined players, both focused on winning their first Gulf Coast Tour event. On this day, Garland’s game proved too much for Cole, as the “Princess of Pool” took the lead, and the first set of the true double elimination final, 7-4. Congratulations to Teresa Garland on capturing her first Gulf Coast Tour title, and Cindy Cole on achieving her best Gulf Coast Tour finish to date.
Finally, the tour would like to recognize Joyce Davis, who recently secured her first sponsor, Continental Roofing of Houston, Texas. Owners Nick and Mandy Hood are thrilled about the new relationship. “Joyce is someone we thought would do a great job representing, and spreading the word about our business. She’s full of energy and personality, a real people person, and for us, that’s a great fit”, says Mandy Hood. The Gulf Coast Tour would like to congratulate Ms. Davis on this accomplishment, and commend Continental Roofing for their support.
