Julian Captures First Event on Gulf Coast Tour

Julian, Smith, Barnes, Twitty, Nickerson, R. Petrosino, T. Petrosino, Lopez

Ashley Julian stole the show at the third stop on the Gulf Coast Tour, going undefeated, besting Robyn Petrosino in the final, 7-4, to win her first event.  Recently relocating to Texas from Colorado, Julian made an impressive debut on the Gulf Coast Tour, as well as the Poison Lone Star Tour, placing 9th-12th out of 55 players, in the amateur 9-ball division.

On January 12th, 2025, sponsors Poison by Predator Cues, Predator Cues, APA of North Harris County, Alamo Billiards, Outsville Billiards, and Team Straight Pool Eye, produced another successful 9-ball event for the women of the Gulf Coast Tour. The $500 added event drew 12 women players and paid out $800 in prize money. Big Tyme provided twenty-four, 7’ bar tables for tournament play, all covered with Predator Arcadia Reserve, tournament blue cloth, in a non-smoking environment. Predator sponsored the Arcos II ball sets used on each table, and Accu-Racks were provided by Outsville Billiards for discussion-free racking.

The winners’side final four witnessed Ashley Julian defeat San Antonio’s Sophia Lopez, 7-5, while Terry Petrosino eased by Natalie Smith, 7-6. In the hot seat match, Julian denied R. Petrosino, 7-5, capturing her first winners’ side, on Tour. On the west side and in the final eight, R. Petrosino eliminated Candy Barnes, 5-1, and Smith, 5-3, while Jillian Nickerson sent home Tammy Twitty, 5-2, and Lopez, 5-3. R.Petrosino made quick work of Nickerson, 5-1, and the elder Petrosino, 5-3, for a shot at Julian. In the first match of the true, double elimination final, the two competitors played it close to the vest, but it was Julian who pulled ahead, closing the set out, 7-4, to capture her first-ever, Gulf Coast Tour event. Congratulations to Ashley Julian on a well-deserved victory.

The Tour would like to thank all the women competitors who came out to support this event, congratulate our winner, top finishers, and those who reached a milestone in their billiards journey.
